Is there any way I can use a set up like this and keep my AC? I think this sounds like a superior cooling method as to what we all have from the factory. Although my car doesn't seem to go much over half even in stand still traffic in mid summer it is nice insurance to know that something is working in there.

Since I don't have AC any longer, I used the aux fan and brackets from the Euro models. They ount the fan on the front side of the radiator without the condensor core.

I use a relay and an e36 318Ti thermo fan switch (80C/88C) to turn the fan on and off. The fan only uses one temp setting 80C for me (I might switch to 88C) and runs in full speed mode.

I chose not to manually switch the fan, since it is really easy to forget when you're sitting in pit lane waiting to hit the track... its far simpler if the fan swtich does the work for you.

Once the fan comes on, it takes roughly 1-3 minutes before the temperature is lowered from a little past 1/2 to a little below 1/2 (that's with the 80C setting).

HTH,

Kev

I have no experience with electric fans, I just know that it sounds like a good idea. I would like a switch to control when to turn it on and off, or just have it on all the time when running in the summer.

What brand did you get? Was it hard to mount and wire in?
