I need to bring my ///M to the US with me (OHIO).
since i dont have to worry about customs or taxes,
running german plates and specs for up to a year,
i just need to know
what company can get it over there, and
to what price?
How long will it take?
I will be leaving pretty soon, so my ///M
will have to get on whatever means of transportation like NOW! so i will not have to be without it too long! :-)
I will be extremely grateful to anybody that can give me info and help me, so that I can be crusing with fellow ///M enthusiasts pretty soon! :-)
greetings from ///Munich,
the city where we define performance....
unless you have connections in the US military or are importing it because you are not a US citizen and are willing to export it within in a year. (Even then you must write US customs and arrange importation and pay import duties).
Otherwise you simply can't import the car unless you go through a regsitered importer. Figure to pay $7-$10K in fees. If you try to import the car without filing the proper paperwork customs will sieze the car and force you to export it or it will be crushed. So, if you want to bring it back to the US you better arrange with an RI so they can post bond with customs.
Also how can you import the car without modifying it and run it legally on US roads for a year without plates or tags? Only non US citizens can do that......and even then you must buy a tempory permit to use the car in the US. Otherwise BIG tickets will be yours if and when you are stopped by the good ole police... that is unless you are a foreign dignitary with diplomatic immunity.
If so why bother with the hazzle just for a year?
