: : SU,
: You posted:
: : (I may not be an expert on the E31)
:
: You would be correct in that statement.
:
I never claimed to be, and still am not. As far as I was concerned, this was not a point of debate. But you, sir, have a talent for reposting the obvious.
:
: PMB's posting is technically correct. He did not comment on the YEARs the engines changed.
:
Read a bit closer: he said that the Ci was changer over in 1993, and that the Ci's have the 5.4 V12. To quote him:
"To be precise, the 850i was fitted with the M7B50 engine displacing 5.0 liters and the 850Ci was fitted with the M73B54 engine displacing 5.4 liters."
No mention is made of the fact that the Ci also had the 5.0. That is *not* being precise. This should read :
"850Ci was fitted with the M73B54 engine (displacing 5.4 liters), and the M70B50 engine (displacing 5.0 liters) during different years of manufacture."
:
: Since you are not a member of the E31 board, you are simply confused about what PMB knows about the E31. If you were a subscriber, you would find that your statement would read:
: WOW! You really are a great guy to donate your time again and again to yet another non-E31 owner who is seeking knowledge on the E31.
:
Like I said to Sir Mark, this is not platform specific knowlege. I do not need a E31er educating me about the V12. I was educated by an E32/E38er, and looks like you should benefit from the same education.
The grossly incorrect info about the V8 does not bother you at all, however.
And please, do not tell me what I will say in the futre. Or is clairvoyance another of your talents?
:
: I will refrain from posting any negative comments on the 7 Series board when I find errors posted, since as it seems, I don't actually own a 7 Series BMW.....
:
I never intended for my post to be negative. I find it really a shame when "experts" do not know the basics. And if you have some key knowledge about the V8 or V12, you are certainly wellcome on the 7er board. But, as I was kind enough to, do not speak of things you do not know -- give us the V8/V12 info, but since you don't have E23/E32/E38 info, don't bother.
And if you do find errors on the 7er board, PLEASE DO CORRECT THEM! There is no reason incorrect info should go uncorrected.
Regards,
SU
