The benefit of a lighter car is highly dependant on the skill of the driver. In pro racing, the rule of thumb, 10lbs = 1hp. Such a comparison is only made in the sense of speed through a road track. 10lbs will generally NOT equal 1hp in 1/4 mile testing... but the additional handling and interial benefits of 10 less lbs will let an experienced driver navigate through a roadtrack as if he had 1 extra pony power.

Now, for a street/soloII driver, it is more like every 20~25lbs is like 1hp. I hope that helps.
