I have a 3.15:1 non-limited slip differential for sale for $400/or best offer. This unit may be of interest to e31 6-speed owners who have the standard 2.65:1 unit and are looking to improve off-the line performance. I'm making the change to my e31 6-speed and ended up with two differentials. The unit is from a 1988 750 with 80k miles and in excellent condition. The case is identical to the 850's requiring only that you replace the rear cover and input shaft with those from your current unit (verified by BMW transmission specialist Jim Blanton of Blanton Transmissions). The 3.15 gearing results in a shorter profile for all six gears, with the new 6th gear ratio being nearly identical to that of the old 5th. The new sixth gear ratio maintains a very comfortable 2,814 RPM at 80 MPH. Top speed is approximately 170 MPH at 5,979 RPM and first gear is very useable with a maximum speed of 32 MPH at 6000 RPM (versus 40 MPH for the 2.65 ratio). Installation is about $200 (3 hours at $65) plus an addition $50 to change the input flange and rear cover. Shipping via UPS is about $50 in the US and I will guarantee the unit, including return shipping if not satisfied.
