: Hi my name is Lez, and I owned a '95 840Ci w/94k and now I have a '97 840Ci w/26k miles.
Even with the high mileage the car is awesome. The '97 feels a little more powerful and thanks to the steptronic/shiftronic tranny it is a little more sporty. I love this car and I drove an '94 850Ci and didn't felt like the 840 was a lot less powerful. The V8 engine is lighter and revs a little higher but has little bit less torque. But if you don't want high speed and very quick acceleration you should be fine with the 840Ci. Watch out for the electronics and strange noises. But if the car you looking at has really 17k miles then watch out for the price only. Nothing can be wrong and everything is still under warranty ! Price should be around 50.000USD. The less the better of course but if it is a lot less find out why ? I have seen about 3 or 4 recently sold here for about 45-50 in less than a month.
Wish you a good luck !
btw: I was thinking to go to the M3 before.
