: Luckily (for me), the odometer reading turned out to be true (don't ask me HOW they determined this, 'cause I really don't know). If I were interested in the car in question... I would try to verify the mileage with a BMW dealership... not a "luxury automobile outlet".

How do you verify the milage on a euro spec car that has spent all of its life outside the US?
The seller lied about the car being a CSi, lied about changing the transmission from a 6 speed to an autobox, and some suspension components needed to be replaced at about 10,000 miles on the clock.
The odometer is so easy to change or tamper with do you really believe yours is original milage?
The new 97 850 Ci in question is just that. A brand new, never been titled, leftover 97 model, at an authorized dealership. They have had several new ones there until recently. This is the last one they have. I have seen it, it is stored inside the dealership, and is brand new, even though it's a 97 model year.
