I find it amusing that people can't own up to their own words. Were I willing to call you a moronic simpleton, I would at least have the sack (of marbles, of course) to do it under my own name. I suppose, the anonymity of the internet gives license to demonstrate who we all really are, underneath.

Of course, you might be genuinely schizophrenic... in which case, I truly have nothing but sympathy for you. BTW: this response is posted to the personality calling him/her-self "Smarty Pants". ;-)

Sorry I didn't reply immediately, but I wanted to call BMW before I put my foot in my mouth... not that anything has stopped me from doing that before, but hey... there is a first time for everything.

Pretty much, what they said was that they checked the condition of the car, the charge of the batteries, the suspension components, errors in the ECU, plastics, wiring, brake rotors, brake pads, fluids, hinges, fuel filter, intake path, air filters, DK motors, spring perches, spring pillows, and some other things under the hood. Their conclusion was, if the odometer was off, it was fractional. There was no reason NOT to believe that the car had never been driven (damn... double negative!... flame on!).

Of course, all these things could have been replaced, but if they had been, that would defeat the purpose of rolling back the mileage. The cost of all these parts would have been nowhere near the $.11 per mile that is indexed from the average mileage of the car.

So, that was basically the story... of course, you may still be right about the mileage: perhaps you should come take a look at the car, yourself. I am going to be posting pictures soon, but certainly not of the things you will want to check to verify the federal odometer statement which was issued at the time of federalization.

Talking to the federalization company, their process of odometer federalization is similar. However, they are more closely monitored by the government... if they were wrong about the odometer statement, they would be in deep water, faster than you can say, "I like picking on others."

Hope that answers your questions. I would imagine, that you will have some witty retort (most likely about my spelling), but I assure you, this car has been through more hoops (especially on this forum) than a circus cat.

Feel free to e-mail me. Of course, I wouldn't expect you to... certainly the brevity of many readers must appease some sort of stunted attention deficiency; otherwise, you would have e-mailed me in the first place. I would have e-mailed you, but I didn't find it worth while to trace your IP address.

Justin
