Well... I suppose the rush at ~4k rpms must be the cams coming into their powerband?

Yeah, making a car go is inversely related to reliable life, but do you really think that not irking out ALL the performance a car has to offer really does it justice, as well?

I honestly trying to poll how people drove these cars. My friend and I were having a debate about which camp (E31'ers or Audi S4'ers) drove more like a blue hair than the other. I was arguing (obviously) that the S4 guys (a4.org) seemed to be less performance oriented. I think I was wrong.
