: Well guys I have not posted in a long time however,I do read this message board everyday. 10 months ago I bought a 91 850i(automatic) with 85K for 26K. At that time the car was bone stock. The car now has a full set of Dinan chips (2 engine 1 trans.)an MK motorsports exhaust (from Steve C.)and soon to come extrude honed CSI intakes (also from Steve C.)
: I hope im not being rude when I say that I absolutely beat the S_ _ T out my car. I have four other cars so I dont worry about the 850 breaking down.

: The purpose of this note is to tell everyone that after 15,000 miles of cruel and unusual punishment I have not had any mechanical failures (Knock on wood) I change the oil every two thousand miles and thats it. I have burned up one set of rubber and gone through a set of brakes. I live near
: hwy 5 in Northern California, this means I drive my car at speeds of 140-150mph on a DAILY bases (I got the speedo to 160 more than a few times) YES I have been arrested too :)

: The only way to describe how happy I am with my car is to say that sometimes I consider having an extramarital affair with it.

: To all of those who want to talk CRAP! about the E31 think about this. Northern California has one of the highest concentrations of fast, expensive and exotic cars in the world. DAILY I find myself next to 911's and 911 turbos, M5's,a zillion hopped up M3's a ton of Saleen Mustangs (hahaha) and any other hot rod that you can think of.
: I HAVE NEVER BEEN BEATEN. Im not trying to say that I have the fastest car in Nor. Cal., what I am saying is that at speeds above 120mph the BIG 850 is as stable as your living room sofa. Why is it that around 130mph all of the other kids back down.

: This is my favorite story, if you know this area of hwy. you will appreciate the story even more. One night im out loafing about at 80mph on hwy 101 south when I notice two sets of franticly flashing headlights in my rear view mirror. Its a 540 sport and an M3 closing in on me (FAST). I let them pull
: up door to door with me (about 90mph or so)and then pulled down to S3 and hit the gas!!!! Needless to say it was no race the 540 put up a little fight but it wasnt enough.
: thats not the good part. The good part is, we were all getting on to hwy.680 east which is a long (NASCAR style)left hander. THIS IS A TRUE STORY! When we entered the
: turn both cars were at least two car lengths behind me, when I entered the turn I was doing 130mph! the BIG girl felt good so I buried the gas pedal when I exited the turn (140mph) the other two cars could not be seen!!!

: For those who dont know, That is what the 850 is all about
: HWY. HIGH SPEED BUTT KICKIN!!! For those who do know, I have said enough.

:
: PS. If anyone is ever in the Bay area look me up :)

: PS.PS. My wife was along for the ride and can verify the story.

I ran my 850 to almost 160mph between Monterrey Mexico and Laredo. The car was stable and could keep going for hours but I slowed down to 110.
