I have a question. I have a very "Laguna Seca" style cork screw nearby... the entrance turn into the downhill is a left with a breaking (90 degree) right toward the bottom. I practicing skittering the rear wheels on this the bottom curve to set up a straight, ful-throttle trackout... however, I need some advice on the entry turn. Due to the close proximity of a turn prior to the cork screw, the max. entry speed is about 35~40 mph. Now, I know I want an early apex to set up for the bottom turn's trackout, but the actual execution is alluding me.
I don't want to trail-brake due to the hill, but when I fore-brake, I get really excessive understeer at the apex. I usually try to message the throttle to get a little oversteer back, but combing throttle with the hill usually messes up the line for the second turn!
I asked my M3 friend and instructor (RX-7), but their strategies are all deeply dependant on their own cars. What do guys think the best strategy is? Mark D., any thoughts? As of yet, the best strategy I have found (which CAN'T be right) is to match my turn-in speed to my apex speed. I just carve the apex and blip the throttle on the track-out to set me up for the lower turn... according to the OBC... my average speed throw the first turn is something like ~19 mph! In a really daring attempt at trailbraking, I was up to 21 mph, but have not been able to recreate that in a smoother, more graceful manner.
Is there a trick to setting up the E31 when you are actually IN the apex, that I don't know about?
Thanks in advance.
