Chris,
I just repaired the exact same problem two months ago on my '92 850i. It was the pulse generator sensor. Unfortuneately, when the pulse generator goes out, it will stop one bank of fuel injectors, and the back pressure can blow out a fuel pump. So check both the sensor and the relevent pump. If the pump is out, I suggest you replace both pumps to be safe.

: : On my 91 850, the engine runs on one bank when it is cold, and when it has been running for about 20 minutes, but it runs on all 12 in between those times. I have switched throttle motors, still same bank down, switched throttle bodies, same, replaced the coil, rotor and cap on the affected side, still no change. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be? The diagnostic code is main ignition module on the self test. HELP!!!!!!!
: Chris, check voltage on both batteries, more than four years since replacement it maybe time, also if one is not up to spec's you should replace both.
