: Typically, I will roll up to 10'~15' short of the light. Stop. Turn ASC off, drop it in first, and gun it. I'll yoke the wheel to get two lines behind me. Quickly, I stop, throw it in reverse, and roll back. I'll creep up to the line again. Since I need the confidence of first gear, I won't neutral drop the car. Stomping on the brakes and yanking the e-brake, I'll bring the revs up to 2500~3000 RPM. Right before launch, I'll drop the e-brake, release, and then stomp the brake pedal. As the car lurches back, compressing the rear springs, I let the brake out and begin piloting. Sometimes it is the left wheel, but usually the right wheel spins so I cut the steering appropriately to give it some more traction. The RPM's usually only drop 1000 on the launch. I let the car overrev a little so that I plunk back into vanos when I shift.

I think this might be an good way for people to introduce yourselves and therefore make this board a little more tightly knit as far as a community goes... and ultimately, through understanding, there might be less flames, etc. If anything, drop a note in the holiday spirit! :-)

Well, I had an E32 with the V70, I just sold it. I don't know if you care because it was not an E31, but I flogged that baby as hard as I could. I did burnouts, 100mph on-ramps, whatever. The V70 was the only reason I bought it (well, it was black too!) At 135K miles, I broke the rearend. No matter, I swapped for a limited-slip 3.64 and had even more fun! I never exceeded 130mph because the frontend wasn't right. And the purchaser knew I flogged it because he is a really good friend. Actually, he had such a hard time finding a black V70 E32 that he didn't care that I flogged it. The first thing he did was straighten out the front end, so it's time to borrow it! Hope you guys don't mind the intrusion on your board! I agree some about that safe driving admonishment from the mature guys. I only hit the really high speeds late at night on empty highways. I'm sure I deserve admonishment, I have kids and should know better. My last speeding ticket cost me $400! Oh well, I have the need for speed. I'll have to check into to that track thing. I miss my car already, and I have my eye open for an E31 6spd. Does anyone know if an E31 is as stable as an E32 at high speed?
