: This seems like such a nit picky detail, but having seen lots of E31 pictures one thing I have noticed are two types of auto dimming rear view mirrors - one that looks like a BMW mirror and others that look like the outsourced types (like GM, Ford, and a few imports). Is this the result of a part recall, or did they just change parts in a certain model year? Maybe the ones with the outsourced mirror could be replaced with one that has a built-in compass. Also, did all E31's have auto dimming rear view mirrors?
