'94 840ci engine block same as '94 540i? (archive)

Does the 1994 840ci have the same block as the 1994-95 540? The 540 had a nickel-silicone alloy block that was subject to break down under high sulpher US fuels. They replaced it late in 95 with an aluminum-silicone alloy block. Anyone have any answers?
