When was the CSi first introduced ? (archive)

I know that the 850 CSi was available in the US in 1994 and 1995. But in this months Roundel there is a BMW history timeline that reports the 850 CSi was introduced in 1990 and produced for four years.
Is it possible the official publication of the BMW CCA is wrong? It seems they almost never mention the E31, so maybe they are not familiar with the 8 series.
Can anyone tell me the correct time line for all E31 varients in Europe and the US?
