(S)port ... 10%
(E)conomy ... 75%
(M)anual ... 15%

(E)conomy mode seems to be quick enough. I like using (M)anual mode to motivate the car off the line. I use (S)port mode to get home after a particularly frustrating day at work.

The only experience I have with (A)utomatic mode, is in a friend's E32. So far is I could tell, it seems to a have an attitude very similar to the (E)conomy mode.

My question...

People keep mentioning (S)port mode only operates in up to third gear in the 4-spd transmissions. I have found that to be true of (M)anual mode, as well. However, when I am cruising in 4th and click the switch to (S)port mode, the car does NOT downshift to third, but happily stays in 4th. However, in (S)port Mode I have found that the kickdown point comes much earlier and the shift points are slightly higher... but it doesn't force a downshift to third, like switching to (M)anual mode does. Does everyone's transmission force them to third if they switch over to (S)port mode while cruising in 4th?

I have to admit... there is a nearly night & day difference between the (S)port mode and (E)conomy mode, though.

Justin
