Radio anti-theft code input (archive)

I changed the batteries on my 840Ci and now get a code request on the radio. When I bought the car I got a 5 digit number for the radio but not instructions on how to input it. No combination I have tried has worked. I do not know what model the radio is as I have not pulled it. It has a cassette player and with the remote CD in the trunk. Does anyone have a radio instruction book that gives the procedure for inputing the code?
