Over the weekend I had the lovely experience of having the EML light come on. No fun!! Whenever you attempted to accelerate (even very gently) the EML light would go on and the car would run very rough. When sitting at a stop sign (without the EML light on) the car would idle extremely rough (2000, 1000, 500, back to 2000 and the cycle would repeat very rhythmically).

Needless to say I was having nightmares of big repair costs.

I just got the call from the BMW dealership. The total cost...$0.00!!! Why?? Well that’s my question.

According to the dealership the car is covered with a 7/70 emissions warranty. This warranty is over and above my extended warranty I purchased with the vehicle and as such no claim was made to the underwriter of the extended warranty.

Do all cars (8 series) have this warranty or is it a state of California thing?
