: I am considering buying a '91-'91 850i.

Why the 91 only? A 92 NSX has a higher value than a 91 850i, why not consider a newer E31 with lower maintenance costs?

I currently own a '92 NSX. I was wondering if the performance is at all comparable, and if the maintenance costs are very high.

No, performance is lower and maintenance costs are higher.

I have always been impressed by the 8-series styling and rarity.

If you are impressed with styling and rarity, over performance and maintenance cost, then consider the 8-series.

Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Advice and tips vary among readers of this board, but my advice is to read the archives on this board and see if you are up to the challenge of E31 ownership.

I have just one question for you.

If you where buying a motorcycle, would you rather have a Suzuki GSXR, or a Harley Davidson Fat Boy?
