: what would be a logical progression?
: Who makes the best chip [jim c.? dinan?]
: How is ride affected by bilstein/HR springs?
: Intake manifold upgrades [csi? dinan?]

Chips: Dinan or Autothority
H&R/Bilstein is a good combination, very reputable brands.
Manifolds: Dinan, have them compute that into chip.
Wheels: is a matter of taste, either "17 or "18 are good upgrades. The E31 is a low offset so you can go for deep-dish look like MK Motorsport wheels, or stay with a moderate look like the BBS RSII. OR maybe something light, Fikse FM10.Or a BMW tuner like Hamann or AC/Schnitzer.
Tires: Dunlop 9000 or Bridgestone S02 are very high performance and look good.
Maximum size: fr 17X9 w 255-40
rr 17X11 w 175-40
fr 18X9 255-35
rr 18X11 285-35 I heard of 315's but to me is too much.
