CD changer options (archive)

Does anyone out there have an 850 with a factory Alpine CD changer?? I want to install one in mine, but it won't fit. It seems the Alpine mounts horizontally while the stock pioneer mounts vertically. I verified this the hard way by having my local dealer sell me the Alpine and wasting my time.

Any suggestions (other than the obvious of changing the whole system to aftermarket)?
