Folks heres a story to bring tears to your eyes! I took my 840ci into my local BMW dealer for
an oil and lube, I just got a call from a very sheepish parts guy telling me their top mechanic over filled the car with oil, drained it, fired it up and blew a rod.

They have offered to replace the short block in entirety with a new one. Now don't laugh, as i am a mechanical moron, but at 71K will this mean i have got myself a new engine out of the deal? If so do i have to run it in again? Also should i shoot the mechanic? and are there any implications for the rest of the engine that i need to be aware of or have them check out due to the blow up?
