265 * 0.4 = 106mm
285 * 0.35 = 99.75mm
295 * 0.25 = 73.75mm

The overall diameter for 265/40 and 285/35 are almost identical on the same wheel. 295/25 is actually smaller than the previous two.

Are you talking about width or diameter?


: Go with 245/40/18 in front and 285/35/18 for the rear. Although 295/25/18's will fit the rear, their overall diameter is too tall relative to the front and unnecessarily loads the front suspension during braking as well as reducing the overall gearing of the car. Remember the base size for the CSi started out at only 265/40/17, which has a significantly smaller diameter than the 285/35's the factory later went to.
