I was sitting here stewing over the idea and thought.. The car relies heavily on the links between the A and C pillars because it lacks the B pillar. As a result, since the car is equipped with the seat belt mechanism in the seat, the added unnessary stress to the lower A to C pillar support could compromise the seafty of the car. Also it would eliminate the body stiffening affect of the cross beam of the roof at the C pillar.
Just a few thoughts. I may be off base but it seems to be a logical conclusion.
