Hi all. I'm a proud owner of E39 hoping to become a E31 owner pretty soon. I just read from E39 board that some Y2K E39's with Jet Black finish do NOT have clear coat over the paint. A couple of people have reported fine scratches on the finish after a normal wash. It worries me since Jet Black is my first choice for E31 that I'm searching for. I hope the clear coat problem is only for the latest E39's, not BMW cars in general. Could anyone with Jet Black E31 confirm that it's indeed not the case with E31? Thanks.
