OK, I have started looking for an 8 a little earlier than planned a)couldn't resist b)might take some time to find the right car.

I am going to test drive an 1994 840Ci auto on Saturday at a BMW main dealer. Questions are as follows:

Is there much value / peace of mind in buying a BMW approved used vehicle? When buying used I always go over the car myself in detail checking main components and that everything works - can I let BMW take care of that this time?

The car has covered 82k miles on the original engine. Should I be worried about the bore linings? I think they are Nikasil for that year and I don't know how long BMW warrants the engine, is it 100k miles?

Anything else to look out for?
