I also changed the throttle position sensor in hopes of fixing my occasional limp home problem. The shop has misdiagnosed for the second time. Some of you have given me some other things to track down and I'll let you know when I figure it out. The car runs on one bank when it is cold and also intermittently once it is warm. Nobody likes to drive an 825i.
Now at least I know what to call the problem! It is like your towing an ocean liner! Do you get an EML light on your dash as well? After the car has warmed up, and I turn the engine off and then on again, it runs on all 12. It blows out a lot of blue smoke initially (clearing out the unused cylinders?) and then runs normally. It also appears that there is some steam in the exhaust as well. Nobody seems to have any idea what is going on.
