The primary attraction of the old boat-anchor Motorola analog is that 3-watt booster sitting in the trunk. Damned thing could probably reach a cell in the next county if necessary. If you travel into the sticks, a booster really helps with dropped calls due to weak signals. The digital folks claim they don't need boosters since they've got towers everywhere. Yeah, right.
Also, there is no 3-watt and voice-activated cell available anywhere in the U.S. other than the setup available from Motorola via OEM from the likes of BMW, Mercedes, Jag, and Lincoln. If anybody has a setup that can do this, sound off.
Motorola deliberately does not offer this directly to the public, along with radio mute. Very frustrating.
