My '92 has the single button keyless remote. I did not have the correct remote when I purchased the car (nice of the dealer to "fool" me with a bogus one, eh?) Anyway, after trying the "switchblade" and then the two button, I finally found a dealer that knew what they were doing and I got the one button remote. As Stan said, it does not activate the alarm, but does deactivate it. From my understanding the '91's did not actually ship to the U.S. with the alarm option installed. But that is just what I have gathered from posts in the past. When I purchased the remote unit I also purchased 3 code chips as well (1 for the remote, matching one for control unit in car, and an extra chip just in case).

: The console light is the alarm indicator. When you fully lock the door with the key (all the way to the right, to the second detent) it activates the alarm. If you only turn the key partially to the right (first detent) it only locks the doors (it's in the owners manual but not very clear). On my single button keyless, only the doors lock, the alarm does not go on. There have been a number of posts below concerning the keyless entry, and frankly I'm somewhat confused as to whether US models had a one or two button keyless in the early years.

: : On my console near the gear selctor is a small dome shaped protrusion that blinks red when the doors are locked. I just recently purchased the car and it came with a single key with no indication of keyless entry or alarm. Does the flashing red light indicate the car has an alarm or do they all have this feature as a ruse for car theft?
