M-Powered 1993 850Ci??? Rear or Fake? (archive)

A local dealer has a 1993 850Ci Vin# WBAEG1326PCB42768 for sale. It has a Rear //M badge, //M Shift Knob and //M Engine Cover saying M-Powered.
I know that ~160 540i's had an M option, don't believe that the E31 ever did, except for the CSI and even that didn't have a rear //M badge. Is this another case of an //M badge wanna be?
