840 performance parts for more HP (archive)

Gentlemen,
I recently purchased an 1996 840 cia AND LOVE IT!!! Mind you i searched hi and low all over the states to find a pristine car with the color combination i desired(god knows what the germans think with some color combinations.) One also not beat on or repainted, and with all the options.
I originaly wanted (for many years) an 850, but the more i enquired about the car, the more people said go with the 840, "a lot less problems". I really didn't want to give up the gorgeous 12 cylinder and the higher horsepower/torque. But,for exchange of reliablity and some horsepower, i decided to go for an 840 instead. So now im looking to increase the horsepower as much as possible without major modifications. Also im looking for someone who has some experience with 840's and knows how to modify and or performance tune the engine to get that extra umph i lost with not going for the 850. I don't want to break the bank with Dinan performance upgrades. All i want to accomplish is to get as much harmless extra horsepower as possible. ie K&N air filter, mild exhaust with a nice deep throaty sound,maybe even MAP changes on the computer if needed, or any other suggestions.
