: Remember that tires are also rated on softness, not just size and speed-capability. Soft tires are great if you want a lot of grip when you turn. However, you will wear 'em right down if you smoke the tires by coming of the line fast or if you do an emergency hard braking which will create a flat spot (experience talking).
After doing a considerable amount of research I chose the Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position SO-2 tires. The guys at the tire shop never saw a traction rating of AA before. However, I will be lucky to get 15K miles out of them, but oh what a ride! The S0-2's were not the absolute stickiest tires out there, but they are the best in wet weather. I have NO complaints (with traction control off, in first gear on dry asphalt the rear end only chirps loudly when I rev the engine and pop the clutch for max. acceleration. I can't "light 'em up” :-( ).
