To buy or not to buy an 850iA... (archive)

Dear experts,

I am posting this message with a question that is making me crazy. The other day I went to my local BMW-dealer (in Sweden) and spotted a very nice BMW 850iA.

The car is from 1993 and has a milage of 60000 kilometers. The price tag is around $28K which I am considering to be fairly OK.

The problem is the following. The car has had two owners where the first owner was a german who imported the car to Sweden. The second buyer bought the car in 1997 and unfortunately the car only has a documented history from there on.

By reading some articles in this forum many of you would really recommend me not to buy the car as I have no clue of what happened to it during its firts years, but I have inspected thet car up and down and taken it for a spin and it really gets to me as a car in good shape.

What should I do...listen to my brain and not buy it, or listen to my heart and buy it? ;-)
