I would not recommend buying a no records car. Historically many 8 owners couldn't afford or simply chose not to pay the steep price of regular maintenance BMW Dealers charged. Whereas I can't blame them, I don't understand buying an $80+ car and then neglecting basic maintenance. Unfortunately, these cars are more the rule than the exception in markets like Los Angeles. Any car without records is a prime candidate and they don't respond well... these are the horror stories that for some have tainted the 850 with a "problematic" reputation. Buy an all books and records example for a few dollars more and save yourself the trouble of someone elses neglect.
