A couple of thousand dollars is chump change fixing this car :) good luck. If its in great shape you might still expect to spend a couple thousand to make it just right ..
Check the motor thouroughly.

recent service job i saw:
standard 5.0 v12 - rebuilt $6500 shipped
Installation $3000

Ouch dude. I don't want to think about the tranny either :)
