Break-in 840ci (archive)

Does anyone have experience/suggestions breaking in 840ci.
Engine is specified for synthetic oil. Have about 700 miles on it. Instructions were to run it below 4500 RPM, vary driving conditions. Some specialists call for oil change at 1200 miles. Another set suggests this might be harmful to break-in and to run engine 7500 miles.
