: Well it is a tricky one. There is a refill hole in the middle of the oil pan. The hole actually in that small hoop. There you can refill the pan with a fluid pump easily.
There are a few thinks you should keep in mind before you do anything on the tranny :
- unless you have about 90k+ miles in the car no need for oil change
- use a very good synthetic oil , preferably a genuine BMW oil (very expensive) ONLY !!!
- buy a filter/gasket for the tranny from BMW or any aftermarket compnay but there has been a recall because of the filter problems and I belive only the original BMW has been replaced.
- you will need approx. 6-7 quart of oil , but you can reuse the oil (at least part of it) and since BMW sells only 5 liter oil cans, you either buy 2 can or buy one and reuse part of the old oil. I'd use 2 pan to drain the oil - first 3-4 quart goes to a oil reuse center, and the rest of the oil would have to go to a clean pan and I'd reuse it, after a metal-clean. Use a magnet , move around the oil and it will pick-up any small metal parts might be in the pan, and then reuse that with a new oil. BTW : I have a filter/gasket/o-ring KIT and 5 liter/quart of genuine BMW oil for sale.
(My car is under warranty so I wont need it)
I paid about 200USD for it, but will take 149 for everything. (99USD for the oil and 50USD for the filter/o-ring/gasket)
Also I have an oil pan gasket for an 840Ci for sale : $19.95
E-Mail me if you need them.
