Sorry to hear about the accident. It's always heartbreaking to hear about 8's getting smashed up. However, I would suggest telling your insurance company and dealer to get their act together (or go stick it, as the case may be). The 850i engine is so detuned that it is virtually bulletproof, and will should have no major engine component problems for well over 100,000 miles. These engines are not yet "old".

That said, your problem sounds like either DK (throttle body) motors, engine control computer or one of the engine sensors (e.g. cam shaft position sensors). Another possibility is the DK's not being synchronized. If the stealer (dealer) is somewhat up to snuff, they should be able to run the Modec (sic) diagnostics and find out what's wrong. Otherwise, I would suggest asking around to see if any local independents have a Modec or Modec II (these are the plug-in diagnostic computers), to check your car. You can also access the fault codes from within the car. Go to: http://www.bonnevillemotorwerks.com/fault.html
and follow the directions. I would venture to guess that you do have a problem and it should be fixed by whom ever did the work.

Good luck,
Stan C.
