: The 850 csi does bare the M logo, but only because plans for an M8 were scrapped due to Fuel Economy concerns/safety concerns, and who knows what else! It has been said that BMW AG decided to use the M shrouds on the engine for no other reason than to use the parts it had designated for the defunct M8.

: I do agree that lesser cars, such as the original M535csi were badged M's, and it truly is a shame that Bimmer never took the sprtscar world by storm with a 500hp M8!!!
