The US version has them for the same reason the Aston Martin DB7 has them too - tax purposes. If the car has only 2 seats it is a sports car with a higher taxes, if there is 2+2 (or 4) then it is just a plain coupe with a lower tax. I asked the local Aston martin dealer about it too.


All the e31's came with back seats. If someone was thinking otherwise, perhaps they saw the vehicle with the rear seats folded down and just didn't know what they were looking at. When the seats are folded down it may make the vehicle look like it didn't have any back seats.
