The replacement of the Microfilters is a simple job that takes about 10 minutes, at least on the 840Ci. It is replaced from under the hood by taking out the three screws that hold the plastic cover over the heater/air intake area at the top of the firewall/cowl. The rubber gasket will have to be moved back to get the cover out. The filter comes in two pieces. The only downside is the cost of new filters.

: I have seen many references lately about the micro filter and its replacement. How is the replacement done? Is it a DIY job?
