1. Turn ignition to position 2 and turn wipers on; when they reach vertical position on the windshield, cut off the ignition (so that the arms are resting straight up). This will give you access to a plastic nut which holds the cover in place at the back.

2. Remove the three metal nuts and one plastic nut (located by driver's side wiper arm post).

3. Lift cover forward and out.

4. Each microfilter is held in place by two metal clips near the top and on the sides of each filter.

5. While pressing the clips back on one filter, lean the filter forward and lift out. Be sure to note the correct orientation of the filter in the housing. The filter frame has a "lip" molded into it on each side where the clip retains it. These lips should be on the top side of the filter, facing towards the front of the car. Repeat process and remove second filter.

6. Using a vacumn cleaner, vacumn out all of the crap and debris at the bottom of the cowl housing where you've just removed the filters.

7. Install two new microfilters (64 31 9 071 932), being sure to carefully slide into place so they seal the air entrance. Postion the metal clips of the mounting lips of the filters.

8. Reinstall the cowl housing cover. Make sure you realign the rubber weatherstrip gasket for the hood if you had to move it.

9. Start car and breathe fresh, cleaner air ;-)
