The spring might not be seated properly... (archive)

... this happened on my friend's car. We thought that the springs would eventually work their way around to the proper postition on the shock/strut perch, but they never did. We ended up having to remount the springs.

An obvious reason that the springs might not be seated properly is if the spring was installed up-side down.

Just a thought.
