As you read this I am on my way to the garage to take off the two rear rotors to replace the emergency brake shoes. I have owned the car for about two weeks "1991 850i with approx 75000mi,Calypso Red/Parchment with Fikse 17'wheels and 200 mph tires, lower gear diff installed, Dynan chips in Eng and Trans, lots of work done in replacing most things that go around 80,000 to 100,000K such as front A-arm stuff, drive shaft and motor mounts, intake gaskets, injection boxes, belts, hoses, radiator re-due, tune up? whatever that means, Alpine CD radio, two aftermarket alarm and sheepskins, new stock mats etc. etc. It's really pristine and nice. Most of the leather interior has been replaced and all the records are there etc. I paid $27,500 and have put $600 in the car since, plus sales tax (ouch for honesty). There are pics of it on Bert Smiths photos from the 850 club. I don't mind being honest about the price, I think I got an incredible deal as it is. Anyway, I am replacing the emerg brakes shoes so I will check the site here now and again if anyone has any good little tips to offer to what seems like a pretty simple job as far as these 850s go. I am sure that someone before me left the emergency on and went for a long haul somewhere and burnt up the shoes. I hear strange scraping noises between the rear rotors and the dirt shields (shoe lining pieces?). All this since I adjusted the emerg brake up properly. So, off I go to do the job and I will be checking for tips on what not to do Ooops! I hate it when I end up with extra parts, nuts and bolts?!?#*'@Xx
Thanks,
Kurt. God, I love this car!
