275x40x17 Tires (archive)

I installed the 275x40x17 tires on the rear of my 1991 850i and they work fine, no touching or rubbing anywhere. They look better, fill the area better, are much wider and a little taller, they seem to make the car ride better using 45lbs of pressure rather than the recommended 51 or more stated on the side of the tire. The car does not seem any slower off the line?? in fact it seems faster?? (perhaps wishful thinking), the shifting points are a touch more drawn out and it actually seems more comfortable, less busy, poetic justification.
