Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately the Nikasil issue is known in the UK also. However, I ruled the car out yesterday anyway. Paintwork was poor. Parked my brilliant red E36 next to the 840 and they looked like different colours. The 840 being an example of what happens if you don't look after that colour.
