I live in Vancouver Canada, we insure our car through a provincailly government owned insurance company. There are advantages and disadvantages to this. Anyways, we have a scaling system which ranks cars from 1 to 19. 850 and 840's are rated at a 17 regardless of the year. A 2000 911 is rated at 19. This is due to how much they cost to fix. It makes a difference in costs alot. My younger brother pays about 35% less on his 95 M3, and 50% less on his 1998 328i.
