rule of thumb... when things are acting fishy with an auto transmission, drop the pan/replace filter and fluid.

: I had a problem with my trans. Whenever I tried to shift into reverse it sometimes would never find the gear. I would then have to try to keep sifting back and forth for it to go into reverse. I also have a problem in the morning when the car is about to shift into second gear. The automatic trans shift very hard into second. My mechanic says its a torque converter and wants to 1200 to fix it. Does that sound right?
