* To set the Code alarm/disabler:
- When you first enter the car and stick the key in the ignition, you turn the key to a point somewhere just before the car begins to start. I say somewhere just before because it's touchy and hard to determine, but mainly to the point where only the clock numbers light up. (however, depending upon the mood of the computer, sometimes the readout in the computer display also lights up) But anyway, put the key in, turn until just before the starter engages and the clock numbers light up.
- Then push the button that says "CODE". If you have the key in the right spot on the ignition then the computer readout display will say the word CODE_ _ _ _and you must then punch in the code you want from the 4 different keys on the left side of the computer = (1 or 10 or 100 or 1000).
- If you push the same button more than once the number for the button will double, so if you put in a number you don't want then you can either hit the check button (top/right button) to erase it or you can keep pushing the number button until it comes back to 0 and you can start over again putting in the number you want. You can play with it to become familiar.
- Suppose you hit the 1 button or the 10 button only, then the Code readout would be CODE 1 _ _
or CODE 10 _ _ and then you would put the Set/Release button mine says S/R, its the farthest bottom right button on the computer.
- Then you turn off the key and the Code button will then have a little round red light showing. Then you know you have set the Engine disabler/horn alarm.
- Try to start the car and it will not start. If you keep messing with it and try putting in some wrong codes then your horn will start to go off which is the alarm and the car will not start.
- Therefore, with the alarm set, little round red light on, if you put in the key and turn to that same point on the ignition just before the car begins to engage the starter, you will see the word CODE _ _ _ _ appear in the dash computer display window. (For some reason you don't have to push the "CODE" button on the dash computer when you are turning off the alarm).
- Anyway, when the word code appears in the computer display window, then you must put in the same exact number you set the alarm with when you left the car and then immediately hit the button S/R (set/release) and then start the car.
- You can practice this proceedure a few times until you become familiar with it. I now do it by feel in the dark at night.
- However, if you forget your code and put in the wrong one....your alarm will go off and the car will not start. A very exacting system.
Try it, you'll like it. Makes it very hard to steal the car.
